The name Messavóli is no coincidence: it draws inspiration from both “place” and “path.” Specifically, it originates from “Messaria,” the traditional village at the heart of Santorini where the residence is located, and “vóli,” an old local term used to describe the stone-paved paths that once connected homes and courtyards.

Today, this historic mansion has been thoughtfully transformed into a contemporary residence. In its past life, it functioned as a traditional canava—a wine-making space where Santorini’s renowned wines were once produced. The original wine press is still preserved on-site, serving as a living testament to the island’s rich vinicultural legacy. The recent renovation was carried out with passion and care, honoring every traditional detail while introducing subtle modern touches. The result is a comfortable and authentic accommodation experience that seamlessly blends the charm of the past with the comforts of the present.

Cycladic Architecture & Modern Comforts

The residence embodies classic Cycladic architecture, featuring whitewashed surfaces, graceful arches, narrow, picturesque windows, and vaulted ceilings. The cave-style rooms, carved into the volcanic rock following Santorini’s tradition, surround a charming inner courtyard, evoking the feeling of a small, private village. The mansion’s old wooden door leads you into the courtyard, which serves as the heart of the space and resembles a scene from a classic Greek summer.

Access to the residence is exclusively via a traditional cobblestone “vóli” (path), enhancing the sense of being in an authentic, traditional Santorinian neighborhood.
Inside, you’ll find all modern comforts thoughtfully integrated—from comfortable beds and elegant bathrooms to air conditioning and Wi-Fi—ensuring nothing is lacking in your comfort, while preserving the traditional style and unique atmosphere of the space.
